There
is nothing that training can not do. Nothing is above its
reach or below it. It can turn bad morals to good, good morals
to bad; it can destroy principles, it can create them; it
can debase angels to men and lift men to angles. And it can
do any of these miracles in a year even in six months.
(Mark Twain)

Modernizing
Audit Component with IT
Under
the guidance of World Bank, PIFRA Audit Component has
an important objective towards modernizing the Audit
infrastructure and methodology for Government of Pakistan.
Information Technology plays a pivotal role in the modernization
process. It is an important fact that due to lack of
necessary IT infrastructure and software tools various
audit Directorates and Field Audit Offices (FAOs) are
facing problems. Aiming to achieve the goal of modernization,
PIFRA–Audit component has procured the hardware
and software for various Directorates and FAOs. This
component has taken many steps in IT Modernization.
The IT team of PIFRA-Audit component is working on a
Web portal , which will provide a collaborative platform
for the official and resources of DAGP.
The proposed Web portal is a cost-effective and easy
to use solution which will ultimately become part of
Audit Management Information System. Through the Web
portal the officials will be able to exchange documents,
and provide rich knowledge base of previous audit reports
and research papers for the resources of DAGP. The Web
portal will serve as a representative for AGP on INTOSAI
and ASOSAI forums, search engine for terminologies,
research papers and audit reports from DAGP servers.
It will receive the support about FAM and Live Audit
remotely and will be able to download various kind of
forms and documentations for Live audit. The idea of
Web Portal for DAGP has been presented in the presentation
by PIFRA-Audit component during the World Bank Review
Mission in the month of January 2006. Concept paper
for the implementation of Web Portal was prepared and
presented by the PIFRA-Audit IT Team comprising of Mr.
Hammad Yunis (Senior Business Analyst), Mr. Waseem Imran,
Mr. Shabbar Jafri, Mr. Farooq Durrani (IT Expert) and
Mr. Muhammad Rizwan. Members of the World Bank Review
Mission appreciated the idea, competence and performance
of PIFRA IT team and assured their fullest support for
its implementation.
