A World Bank Mission comprising of Mr. Ismaila B. Cessay (Task Team Leader), Mr. Michael Jacobs (Auditing), Mirza Bisharat Baig (Accounting/Auditing), Mr. William Bill Allen (Fiscal and M&E), Mr. Hamid Mukhtar (Economist-Fiscal matters), Mr. Ronald Points (Public Sector Accounting and Reporting), Mr. Ali Hashim (System/informatics), Mr. Amir Munir (IT), Mr. Shahzad Sharjeel (Communication), Mr. Riyaz H. Bokhari (Training & HRM/CM), Ms. Saeeda Sabah Rashid (Financial Management), Mr. Riaz Mehmood (Disbursement), Mr. Asif Ali (Procurement) Mr. Altaf Iqbal (Costing) and Mr. Altaf Ahmad (Mission program coordination) carried out a review of the progress in implementation of the second phase of PIFRA during February 4-15, 2008.
The mission visited the project sites in Islamabad and Karachi and also met with the various officials at these sites. The mission also visited the offices of the Auditor General of Pakistan, Controller General of Accounts , Provincial Accountants General, Ministry of Finance and Provincial Finance Departments.
The mission also met and held discussion with the DFID-financed MTBF consultants on the progress achieved so far and the specific collaborative role that PIFRA is and will be playing in integrating MTBF budget approach with the overall financial accounting and reporting arrangements under the project.
The mission expressed its appreciation for the assistance and courtesy extended by the officials met and particularly the high extent of ownership and commitment to the project at all levels of executive management and gave a satisfactory report to the project.
Finally, a wrap-up meeting and dinner was also held on 15th of February 2008 under the chairmanship of Auditor General of Pakistan. |
